Mark Logic User Conference 2010 Blog

May 4-6, 2010 join me in San Francisco for the annual gathering of the XML faithful — the world’s biggest and best showcase of mind-blowing information applications in use today — the Mark Logic User Conference 2010. You won’t be disappointed. I know. I’ve attended previous Mark Logic User Conferences and have simply been blown away by the quality of the presentations, the depth of the discussions and the amazing feats of content choreography presented in product demonstrations provided by some really smart — and entertaining — presenters at this annual content industry pow-pow. Register today!

Scott AbelMy name is Scott Abel, The Content Wrangler, and this year, for the second year in a row, I’ve been selected the official social media coordinator for this event. As the coordinator, I’m responsible for developing some pre-conference buzz on social networks like — Facebook and Linkedin — and populating this blog with content of use to both conference participants, and to those who are unable to attend, but want to follow all the action from home. Additionally, I’ll be writing blog posts, tweets, status updates and more during the event and managing a team of volunteers and attendees who will be doing the same things.

This year’s event has an outstanding line-up of presenters, including keynote presenter, Chris Anderson, Editor-in-Chief of Wired Magazine. Anderson is one of the most knowledgeable, insightful and articulate voices at the center of the new economy. He consistently understands — before anyone else — the new directions the economy is taking and then names the central phenomenon, giving us handles for the business opportunities they represent.

Chris Anderson, Editor-in-Chief, Wired MagazineWith his New York Times bestseller The Long Tail, he named the rise of the niche as a powerful new force in our economy—why the future of business is selling small quantities of more things to the few people who want those things; how all of those small communities together make up a vast market potential, and how the efficiencies of digital and web technology make it possible.

Now Chris has published Free: The Past and Future of a Radical Price, originally as an article in Wired magazine, and as a book that has generated incredible interest, buzz and debate.

In his presentations based on this research, Chris explains why FREE is the future of business and how to thrive through freeconomics—what business models look like when free has emerged as a full-fledge economy.

But Anderson is only the tip of proverbial iceberg as far as presenters are concerned. I’ll be updating you each week, from this point forward, providing articles of interest to attendees. Expect event updates, travel tips, presenter profiles, videos, links to useful resources, social networking participation information and conference logistical information.

Remember it all happens May 4-6, 2010 at the InterContinental Hotel in beautiful San Francisco. I hope to see you there — or here — virtually speaking. What are you waiting for. Get registered!
